Karoline Kan

Karoline Kan(阚超群)was born inTianjin in 1989, and studied at Beijing International Studies University. After graduating she worked for That’s Beijing,writing long-form feature stories in English about Chinese people’s lives in asociety shaped by a changing culture, economy and politics. She then worked atRadio France International, focusing more on hard-news, before moving to the New York Times Beijing bureau.

Currently writing for China Dialogue, she has also contributed to Foreign Policy, Roads and Kingdoms, The World Policy and the Anthill, writing about Chinese politics, history, ethnic policies and other social issues with a perspective of a Chinese young woman. She lives in Beijing.
